I don't know why, but this particular set of Thirstystone coasters does not absorb liquids as well as other Thirstystone coasters. I wonder if the paint in the pattern has something to do with it. Also, these coasters look reddish-pink all over compared with the soft hues displayed in the Amazon photo. I'm somewhat disappointed with these coasters and do not recommend this particular version.
